Purpose of the Role

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Board and ensure strong governance, values alignment, and compliance
- Chair Board meetings effectively
- Work collaboratively with the CEO on strategic direction
- Represent the organisation at events and with stakeholder engagement
- Ensure the organisation remains person-centred, inclusive, and rights-based
- Support Board development and succession planning
- Act as a public advocate for people with disability
About You
Essential Selection Criteria
- Identify as a person living with disability
- Demonstrated leadership experience (Board, senior management or community leadership)
- Strong understanding of governance principles
- Demonstrated high level communication skills and emotional intelligence
- Ability to chair meetings and facilitate respectful, inclusive discussion
- Strategic thinking and sound decision-making skills
- Commitment to disability rights, inclusion, and advocacy
Desirable Selection Criteria
- Previous experience as a Board Chair or Deputy Chair
- Knowledge of disability advocacy and/or not-for-profit sector
- Experience working with government, funders, or community stakeholders
- Financial literacy or experience overseeing organisational budgets
