Parkview - Craft and Create Volunteer in Aged Care, Chermside

Parkview Residential Aged Care Community at Chermside is seeking volunteers to support residents through simple hands‑on craft projects that spark conversation and encourage personal expression. Volunteers will assist residents as they paint, stitch, decorate and create, helping each session become a relaxed, social and enjoyable creative experience.
The Craft and Create Volunteer can help residents by:
- Supporting residents during craft sessions by helping with activities such as painting, stitching, gluing, decorating and other hands‑on projects.
- Setting up and clearing materials before and after each session, ensuring the space is welcoming, organised and safe.
- Offering encouragement and conversation to help residents feel comfortable, included and engaged.
- Adapting activities to individual abilities.
- Contributing ideas for future craft activities that suit a range of interests and skill levels.
- Communicating resident feedback to staff to assist in improving both the activity and resident enjoyment.
This role is suitable for people who have well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm and empathetic manner when engaging with residents. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make a difference in the lives of our senior residents while making friends, having fun and learning new skills.
Volunteer hours are available Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm, depending on your availability.
This program is located within the Wheller Gardens Aged Care Community where the residents enjoy a wonderful sense of life, fun, and friendship.

All our volunteers follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and provide proof they have received a minimum of one primary COVID-19 vaccination before they are registered in their role.
Volunteers will also be required to have a current NDIS Workers Screening Clearance prior to commencement. This can be applied for through Wesley Mission Queensland at no cost to you.
