Parkview - Bake and Create Volunteer in Aged Care, Chermside

Parkview Aged Care Community at Chermside is seeking a Bake and Create Volunteer to bring fun, flavour, and joyful food experiences to our residents.

These activities assist residents with socialising, promoting a sense of well-being and encouraging community connectedness. Most importantly they bring joy and create smiles!

The Bake and Create Volunteer can help residents by:

• Transforming the kitchen into a welcoming space by setting up equipment and ingredients.
• Welcoming residents to join the fun and get involved.
• Guiding residents through the recipe of the day and offering support to those who want to get involved.
• Wrapping up the session by resetting the space and by assisting residents as they transition out of the activity.
• Supporting residents by fostering connection and meaningful engagement.
• Communicating resident feedback to staff to assist in improving both the activity and resident enjoyment.

This role is suitable for people who have well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm and empathetic manner when engaging with residents. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make a difference in the lives of our senior residents while making friends, having fun and learning new skills.

Volunteer hours are available Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm, depending on your availability.

This program is located within the Wheller Gardens Aged Care Community where the residents enjoy a wonderful sense of life, fun, and friendship.

All our volunteers follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and provide proof they have received a minimum of one primary COVID-19 vaccination before they are registered in their role.

Volunteers will also be required to have a current NDIS Workers Screening Clearance prior to commencement. This can be applied for through Wesley Mission Queensland at no cost to you.
