Program Support Volunteer - Patricia Larkin Housing (Bendigo) - Wintringham

Organisation description:

Wintringham is a not-for-profit organisation providing a wide range of aged care, housing, and related support services to men and women aged 50 and over who have been homeless or are at risk of homelessness. We employ over 1,000 staff and operate across Melbourne, Regional Victoria, and Hobart, Tasmania.

We move away from a one-size-fits-all approach, with our multi-skilled Recreation Team blending recreation and leisure counselling to create meaningful activities tailored to each resident’s interests and abilities.

Position description:

In 2025, Wintringham opened Patricia Larkin Housing in Golden Square, Bendigo, a new 35-unit community housing site supporting vulnerable older people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The project was made possible through partnerships with the Victorian State Government and the Peter & Lyndy White Foundation.

Wintringham is seeking a volunteer to assist with the FoodShare program at Patricia Larkin Housing in Golden Square, Bendigo. The program helps ensure residents have access to fresh food and groceries in a welcoming and organised way.

This volunteer role focuses on helping staff prepare and organise food items so residents can easily access them during distribution.

• Organising food items from crates onto tables for distribution
• Separating cakes, donuts and baked goods into smaller bags
• Sorting fruit and vegetables so they are easy to see and access
• Preparing small bags or containers of fruit such as grapes or strawberries to maximise distribution
• Supporting a friendly and welcoming environment for residents

Skills required:

• Friendly and reliable
• Comfortable working as part of a small team
• Happy to assist with simple food preparation and organisation tasks
• Respectful and patient when engaging with older people

• Please note this role is located in Bendigo, approximately two hours from Melbourne.

Time commitment:

• Fridays, 9.00 am to approximately 11.00 am
• Ongoing commitment preferred
