Working alongside the nursing and healthcare team, you'll help patients and their families feel comfortable, informed and supported throughout their visit to the Cancer Centre.
From welcoming first-time patients to offering refreshments and assisting with practical tasks, you'll play an important role in creating a positive experience for everyone who enters the unit.
- Welcome new chemotherapy patients and their families, helping them feel comfortable during their first visit.
- Provide information about the Cancer Centre, hospital facilities and available patient resources.
- Offer tea, coffee, sandwiches and refreshments to patients and visitors.
- Provide warm blankets and ensure the blanket warmer remains stocked.
- Help patients confirm their follow-up appointments before they leave the unit.
- Clean patient chairs and surrounding areas after treatment to support a welcoming environment.
- Assist nursing staff with non-clinical "back of house" tasks, including restocking personal protective equipment (PPE), organising trolleys and maintaining supplies.
- Prepare oral chemotherapy treatment packs under the direction of nursing staff.
- Provide a warm, compassionate presence for patients and their loved ones throughout their visit.
