Residential Bus Outing Assistant

The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this opportunity on behalf of BASSCARE.

Would you like to support older residents to enjoy outings in a safe, welcoming, and social environment? We’re looking for a friendly and reliable Volunteer Bus Assistant to support residents during their weekly bus outings from Faversham House.

Location: Faversham House Day/Time: Weekly – Monday afternoons

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Escort residents from their rooms to the bus, using wheelchairs where required
• Support residents to safely enter and exit the bus, assisting via steps or a mechanical hoist as needed
• Ensure residents are seated safely and seatbelts are secured during the journey
• Assist with serving tea and coffee on the bus
• Engage with and interact warmly with residents during the outing
• Escort residents back to their rooms at the conclusion of the trip

You will always be supported by experienced staff throughout the outing — you are never expected to manage alone.

• A caring and patient approach when working with older people
• Confidence assisting with mobility support (training and guidance provided)
• Friendly, reliable, and safety‑focused
• Enjoys social interaction and making others feel comfortable and included
