As a Visitor Information Centre Volunteer at the Sheffield Visitor Information Centre, you will be an important ambassador for the region, helping create memorable experiences for visitors exploring North West Tasmania and the gateway to Cradle Mountain.
In this role, you will warmly welcome visitors and provide accurate, up-to-date information on local attractions, events, accommodation, dining options, and travel routes. You will take the time to understand each visitor’s needs and tailor recommendations to suit their interests, ensuring they make the most of their visit to Sheffield and the surrounding region.
Volunteers are also involved in supporting the daily operations of the centre. This includes handling retail transactions, maintaining attractive and well-stocked displays, and assisting with bookings for tours, experiences, and accommodation using the centre’s systems. You will help ensure the space remains clean, organised, and inviting for all visitors.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are key to this role, along with a willingness to learn about local tourism offerings. Volunteers should be comfortable using basic computer systems, handling cash or EFTPOS transactions, and working as part of a supportive team.
This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who enjoy engaging with people from diverse backgrounds, have a passion for tourism and their local community, and take pride in representing Sheffield as a welcoming and vibrant destination.
