As a Kentish Museum Volunteer, you will play a key role in preserving and sharing the rich history of the Kentish region with visitors and the local community. Located in Sheffield, known as the Town of Murals, the museum showcases the stories, people, and industries that have shaped the area over time.
In this role, you will warmly welcome visitors to the museum and provide an engaging introduction to the exhibits. You may share historical insights, answer questions, and help visitors better understand the significance of the collections on display. Your enthusiasm and willingness to learn will help create a meaningful and memorable experience for all who visit.
Volunteers also assist with the daily operations of the museum, ensuring displays are tidy, presentable, and well cared for. You may also support simple administrative tasks or help with special events and group visits.
An interest in local history or heritage is highly valued, although training and resources will be provided to build your knowledge and confidence. Strong communication skills, reliability, and a friendly, approachable manner are essential. Volunteers should also be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
