Van Driver – Community Connection Program

Connection happens when we are present in the places women already are.

Our vans help 4 Voices create welcoming community spaces where women can share a cuppa, join an activity, access practical assistance or simply connect with others.

As a Van Driver, you will help make that possible. By transporting and caring for the van, you enable our volunteer team to arrive safely, reliably and ready to welcome women.

Commitment: Up to five hours per fortnight.

What you’ll do

  • Collect and safely drive the van to scheduled community locations

  • Help set up and pack down the Community Connection space

  • Keep the van organised, stocked and ready for each shift

  • Complete basic vehicle safety checks and share any concerns with the Shift Leader

  • Help create a welcoming, respectful and safe environment

  • Work alongside the volunteer team to support a smooth and positive shift

You’ll be supported with

  • Clear guidance and practical training
  • Shadow shifts to help you build confidence
  • Support from a Shift Leader and volunteer team
  • Ongoing learning and assistance when you need it

This could be a great fit if you are

  • A safe, calm and reliable driver
  • Organised and comfortable taking responsibility for the van
  • Friendly, respectful and happy to work as part of a team
  • Willing to help with simple setup, pack-down and practical tasks
  • Someone others can count on to attend rostered shifts

What you can gain

  • A welcoming and social volunteer experience
  • Meaningful connection with your local community
  • Confidence supporting safe and well-organised shifts
  • Practical teamwork and community engagement experience
  • The satisfaction of helping 4 Voices create connection before crisis

You do not need specialist community-services experience. We will provide the training, guidance and support you need.

Role requirements

  • Current open C-class driver licence
  • Eligible to obtain the relevant Working with Children or Vulnerable People Check
  • Minimum commitment of three months

By helping us arrive safely and reliably, you help create a place where women feel welcome, valued and connected.
