Companion Connections Volunteer
Advertised by CIS Glen EiraCompanion Connections Volunteer Companion Connections is an ongoing program that introduces volunteers to older isolated residents in Glen Eira for friendly visiting. Volunteers spend time with their client, sharing stories, having a cup of tea/coffee together and creating a connection with one another in the client's home. Visits can be weekly or fortnightly – whatever works best for you and your client.
Becoming a Companion Connections volunteer is a great way to:
- Make new connections in the community
- Share your life, stories, and connections with others
- Support an older person near you
- Improve wellbeing for both you and the person you visit
For older residents, receiving a visit at home and having a conversation with a volunteer can create connection, ease feelings of isolation and have a positive impact on mental health. Volunteers can enjoy knowing they’ve contributed to other’s wellbeing through sharing their time and stories. A great return on a small investment!
