Do you enjoy gardening, farming, or spending time outdoors? Do you love sharing stories and conversation?

We are looking for a friendly volunteer to spend time with a gentleman living with Alzheimer's disease who has a lifelong interest in gardening and farming at our residential aged care home in Kelmscott.

He enjoys being outdoors in the garden, talking about plants, flowers, vegetables, animals, and life on the land. If you have a passion for gardening, farming, or simply enjoy chatting about nature, you could make a real difference by sharing these interests with him. In this rewarding companionship role, you will:

  • Spend time together in the garden or courtyard.
  • Share conversations about gardening, farming, plants, and animals.
  • Support simple gardening activities such as watering plants or light weeding.
  • Provide companionship and help create enjoyable, meaningful moments outdoors.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys gardening, farming, or spending time in nature.
  • Likes connecting with older people and values meaningful conversation.
  • Is patient, kind, reliable, and respectful.
  • Can commit to visiting regularly to build a trusted friendship.

This is not a gardening maintenance role. It is a companionship role where shared interests help support wellbeing, connection, and enjoyment of the outdoors. If you enjoy talking about gardens, growing things, or life on the farm, we'd love to hear from you. For more information, please contact our Volunteer Lead on 0436 936 444.
