We are looking for Management Committee members to provide expertise to our organisation, which provides community legal services to people experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, homelessness.

Street Law Centre WA is a specialist community legal centre providing free, high-quality independent legal advice and legal assistance to people experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness in Western Australia. We deliver culturally appropriate and trauma-informed legal advice, advocacy, and ongoing representation in a wide range of civil and criminal legal areas that most commonly impact our client group.

We have a highly skilled and passionate team of 11 staff, supported by a range of pro bono legal secondees. Street Law Centre WA operates in partnership with community service providers working in the homelessness sector by providing legal services through integrated outreach legal clinics, the provision of community legal education and a state-wide advice line. Street Law also contributed to law reform initiatives.

With over 15 years’ experience, we are an established, state-wide award-winning organisation. Our Management Committee is responsible for providing strategic direction, risk management and governance oversight. Street Law Centre WA is required to operate in accordance with high standards of professional conduct.

We are looking for one or more volunteer Management Committee members to join our team. While all applications will be considered, we welcome applications from First Nations’ people, people under 30 years of age and people with expertise in Human Resources. Legal expertise is not required.

The Management Committee meets monthly for 1 – 2 hours, generally in our Perth office. We can support online participation via video-conferencing or phone for regional applicants or with other travel restrictions.
