Delivered by dedicated volunteers, the program operates by appointment at our Cancer Support Centres, Dot's Place Peel and the Great Southern Hub in Albany.

The centres offer a range of supportive care services and programs that help lessen the impact of cancer within the community while raising awareness of cancer support and prevention throughout regional Western Australia.

We're seeking qualified Hand and Foot Massage Therapists to join our volunteer team, to provide approved therapeutic treatments for people accessing support through two locations: Albany Community Hospice and the Wellbeing Centre at Cancer Council WA's Great Southern Hub.

This is an ideal volunteer role for someone with the skills and motivation to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

The Role

Under the guidance of the Cancer Support Coordinator, you will:

  • Comply with Cancer Council WA's Complementary Therapy policies, procedures and professional standards.
  • Obtain and maintain informed consent and complete all required client documentation prior to treatment.
  • Maintain accurate client records and complete required activity reporting.
  • Maintain and respect client wellbeing, rights, privacy, dignity and confidentiality in accordance with organisational policies.
  • Participate in orientation, ongoing education, supervision and peer support activities as required.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties related to the complementary therapy program as directed by the supervising staff member.

Requirements

Essential

  • Hand and Foot Massage Therapy qualification (copy of certificate required and original sighted).
  • Demonstrated experience providing safe, client-centred massage therapy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with people from diverse backgrounds.

Desirable

  • Experience working with people affected by cancer, chronic illness or palliative care.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience working or volunteering within a health, community or not-for-profit setting.
