Aged Care Cultural Visitor - For Female Aboriginal resident in Wyoming

Connection | Culture | Companionship
Mary* (name changed for privacy) is an Aboriginal elder who takes pride in her culture and heritage. She's a people-person and a social butterfly ..... but what is really missing from her life are meaningful ways she can connect with people who share a deep understanding of her story.
Mary would greatly appreciate a regular social visit from a female Aboriginal volunteer to share stories with, have a laugh, and make a meaningful connection based on common culture and understanding.
Due to Mary's mobility challenges, it is difficult for her to join established Aboriginal groups, so a visitor who can come to where she lives in the aged care home at Wyoming will help her feelings of connection.
Visits are purely for social reasons (so there's no personal care duties, running errands or advocacy requirements in this role). Regular visits are important - we'd love weekly visits if you can, but fortnightly visits are okay too. Visits are spent doing activities you both enjoy - take a trip down memory lane looking at old photos, share stories, listen to music, go for a walk in the garden, share a hobby, or play a card game or do a puzzle together.
It's all about connection, companionship and community.
Volunteers undergo a police check and complete a short online training program before commencing.
Register your interest now and an ACVVS Coordinator will get in touch to arrange an interview at a mutually convenient time.
