Turn Compassion Into Action – Material Aid Volunteer (Norlane)

At Uniting Norlane, we support people through difficult times by providing practical help when it’s needed most. As a Material Aid Volunteer, you’ll play a direct role in ensuring individuals and families can access essential everyday items with dignity and care.

In this hands-on role, you’ll assist with preparing and distributing vital supplies, including:

• Toiletries and hygiene products

• Clothing and blankets

• Cleaning supplies

• Baby essentials such as nappies and formula

• School supplies

• Basic household goods (e.g. small appliances)

You’ll also:

• Welcome community members with warmth and respect

• Sort and organise donated items

• Pack pantry and essential aid supplies

• Help maintain a safe, inclusive and dignified environment

• Monitor stock levels and support replenishment

Your contribution has an immediate impact—helping ease financial pressure and ensuring no one leaves without support.

This is more than volunteering. It’s a chance to connect with your community, build practical skills, and experience the genuine reward of helping others in meaningful ways.

No experience is needed—just reliability, a positive attitude, and a willingness to lend a hand.

If you have a few hours each week or fortnight, this is your opportunity to be part of something that truly matters.

Step forward. Stand alongside your community. Be there when it matters most.

No two days are the same—but every shift makes a difference.

Volunteer with Uniting Vic.Tas – Be Part of Real Community Impact

For more than 100 years, Uniting Vic.Tas has worked alongside communities across Victoria and Tasmania to create meaningful, lasting change.

Each year, we support thousands of people to build safer, stronger, and more connected lives. From helping children and young people thrive, to supporting families through challenging times, our work is grounded in practical outcomes that make a difference every day.

We walk alongside people experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, or addiction, helping them access the support they need to move forward. We empower older people to maintain independence, support people with disability to live life on their terms, and create pathways for learning, employment, and social connection. We also stand with asylum seekers, ensuring they feel welcomed, supported, and part of the community.

Why volunteer with us?

As a volunteer, you play a direct role in these outcomes. Whether it’s offering companionship, sharing skills, or supporting programs, your contribution helps create real change in people’s lives and strengthens the communities we all share.

Volunteering with Uniting is more than giving your time — it’s being part of something that matters.

Uniting is a child safe organisation and is committed in everyday practice to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children, at all times. As a ‘child safe’ organisation, employment with Uniting is subject to a satisfactory national (and international where relevant) police check and relevant Working with Children Check in your State prior to commencement of any paid or unpaid work and/or participation in any service or undertaking.

Uniting is also committed to equal opportunity and ensuring the workplace is reflective of the community. We encourage people from different backgrounds to apply, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and people with a disability.
