Special Memories Program

The Memory Book Companion volunteer supports clients and their families in creating a personalized online photo memory book that celebrates the client’s life, stories, and legacy. Once the book is completed, the program donates two printed copies to the client and their family. This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, organized, and comfortable guiding families through a meaningful storytelling process. Build a supportive relationship with the client and their family while maintaining professionalism and respect for their emotional needs. Communicate directly with the family to: Request and collect photos. Gather stories, captions, dates, and important life details. Clarify the client’s preferences for layout, themes, and tone. Organize and curate materials, ensuring photos and information are stored securely and handled with care. Create the online memory book using the program’s chosen platform or template. Collaborate with the client to: Review drafts. Make edits based on their feedback. Ensure they have final approval on all text and images. Prepare the final version for printing and coordinate with staff to order the two donated copies. Maintain confidentiality and follow all privacy guidelines when handling personal stories and images. Provide updates to program staff as needed and report any concerns promptly.
