🤝 Make a Meaningful Connection and a New Friend in Bray Park 🤝
We are seeking a compassionate and active volunteer to spend time with a resident living with advanced dementia. Her condition affects her verbal communication, but she remains a social and expressive person who enjoys connection, movement and shared moments.
She has lived an adventurous life, from the UK to South Africa and Australia, and has always loved staying active through walking, cycling, tennis and ten pin bowling. She continues to seek out engagement and often expresses a desire to “go out” and “do something”.
This is a valuable opportunity to build your understanding of dementia care in a supportive environment. You will provide companionship through gentle conversation, walking and spending time outdoors within the grounds of the Aged Care Home. It is a chance to develop communication skills, build rapport and make a genuine difference to someone’s day.
If you are patient, kind and interested in person centred care, this could be a very rewarding experience both personally and professionally
At QCCN, we believe everyone deserves companionship, especially our elderly residents in aged care homes. We’re seeking volunteers who are ready to make a real difference by providing friendship to seniors who feel isolated.
Why Volunteer? ⏰ Just an hour of your time every fortnight can brighten someone’s world. 👥 You’ll be matched one-on-one with a resident who’s socially isolated or at risk of becoming so. ☕ Enjoy a chat, share a coffee, or play a game, simple moments that can create lasting friendships.
Who We’re Looking For: We need volunteers who are patient, understanding, and experienced in communicating with individuals diagnosed with dementia. Your compassion can truly transform someone’s day.
💖 What to Expect: 📅 Flexible visiting times—weekday Mornings, Afternoons and Weekends. ☕ To make a new friend in care 🔍 This role is perfect for those who want to give back but isn’t designed for those seeking clinical or aged care-related experience.
Why Join QCCN? 💪 You’ll be part of a dedicated team working to combat loneliness among the elderly. 👩⚕️ Our supportive staff will be with you every step of the way, ensuring a rewarding and fulfilling volunteer experience. 💪We check in with you every month and see how you are going.
We’re a small not for profit aiming to do big things! It’s our goal to try to eliminate the elderly feeling secluded whilst in residential care. To do this, we connect volunteers with the elderly so they can develop long lasting, meaningful friendships.
If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact and build a special friendship, we’d love to welcome you to our team! 🌟
