Our BBQ stall operates across all program days and locations, providing food and refreshments for players, families and visitors. As a BBQ Stall Volunteer, you’ll help create a welcoming, efficient and safe environment while supporting one of our busiest community touchpoints.
As a volunteer involved in the BBQ stall, you may assist with:
- Cooking and preparing BBQ items
- Serving food and drinks to families and participants
- Handling cash or EFTPOS transactions (training provided)
- Setting up and packing down the BBQ area
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workspace
- Following basic food‑handling and hygiene procedures
This role operates at Whalan Reserve (outdoors).
Food Handling, Safety & Suitability To ensure safe food service for everyone, volunteers must be:
- Comfortable handling food, heat and BBQ equipment
- Able to stand for extended periods
- Free from food‑related allergies that could pose a risk (e.g., severe reactions to meat, smoke, or common BBQ ingredients)
- Aware that gluten‑free, allergy‑friendly or religious‑specific food handling may be required at times
- Able to follow hygiene and cross‑contamination guidelines carefully
We provide breaks, lunch and water throughout your shift. Volunteers must arrive fit for duty, not injured, and able to safely participate in the physical aspects of the role.
No prior BBQ or hospitality experience is required — we’ll provide all the training and support you need to feel confident and safe in the role.
Suitable applicants will be asked to complete an application form, police background check and Working with Children Check (over 18yrs only).
