Regis Hornsby - Volunteer Opportunity: One-to-One Support (Companion Volunteer)

What you’ll do

• Spend 1:1 time with a resident (companionship and social connection)
• Chat, listen, and support positive engagement
• Assist with simple activities based on interest, such as:
• Reading aloud, puzzles, card games, gentle craft
• Short walks around the home/garden (as appropriate)
• Music, reminiscence chats, life stories
• Encourage residents to feel included and supported
• Work alongside the Lifestyle team to match residents with suitable volunteers

What we’re looking for

• Warm, patient, respectful and a good listener
• Comfortable sitting with someone who may have dementia, low mood, or anxiety
• Reliable and able to follow staff guidance and confidentiality expectations
• No experience required — training and support provided

Days/Times

• Flexible — 30–60 minutes per visit, weekly or fortnightly
• We’ll match you with a resident and a time that suits you
