Volunteer Radio Administration Support | Bay & Basin Community Radio

BCR Communities

At Bay & Basin Community Radio, volunteers and staff work together as a team offering an eclectic range of music and program styles, providing an alternative to other mainstream media for residents of the Bay and Basin region and beyond to enjoy.

The station is an important part of BCR Communities, a community-led, not for profit organisation which has been serving the Bay & Basin community for 35 years. We broadcast out of the BCR Activities Hub in Sanctuary Point which also includes a newly revamped podcasting studio, music and arts hub and outdoor live performance area.

BBFM (92.7FM) has some exciting activities and initiatives coming up and is seeking a new Volunteer to join the station to provide administration and promotional support to the team.

The role will initially involve supporting the growth of membership and increasing sponsorship through the following types of duties including following up leads & enquiries for prospective sponsors, new members or volunteers; assisting with planning and coordination of promotional activities and events; data entry and electronic file and database management; developing forms, documents and coordinating station correspondence.

As this is a new volunteer role you will have the opportunity to shape the role and be fully supported by a team of dedicated volunteers and BCR staff.

This opportunity would suit individuals who have a friendly and positive attitude with strong interpersonal and communication skills; enthusiasm and curiosity for radio, media, and marketing (no formal experience is necessary); an ability to commit to a regular routine of hours each week, both on site and within community; organisation and administration skills including broad aptitude for computer systems and applications; reliability and ability to positively contribute to a team of community minded individuals and a valid drivers licence.

BCR supports and recognises volunteers throughout their time at BCR. This includes a tailored orientation to the organisation, station and role; a health and safety induction and volunteer Employee Assistance Program (EAP); in-house development, coaching and mentoring from a supportive team; social events to promote connection and recognition of your commitment and mutual obligation agreements (if applicable)

BCR is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all community members, importantly those who are vulnerable, children and young people. We have a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse. Given the nature of our services and the community members we support, volunteers will require a Working With Children clearance and NDIS Disability Worker Screening, which BCR will support you with throughout the recruitment process.
