Kororoit Creek Neighbourhood House (KCNH) is a community-managed Neighbourhood House and Eco-Living Centre providing a diverse range of programs, workshops, activities and events to the communities of Albion, Ardeer and broader Brimbank area. KCNH offers a space for all community members to connect and participate.
Position description:
Vibrant Youth is a school holiday program that provides a safe, inclusive and supportive space for young people aged 15–19 who live with a disability and or provide unpaid care to a family member or friend, and who may be experiencing, or at risk of, mental health challenges.
The program runs during selected school holiday periods and offers young people the opportunity to connect with peers, take part in fun and creative activities, and focus on their wellbeing in a relaxed, non-clinical environment. Activities may include indoor and outdoor games, creative workshops, group activities, and shared meals.
As a Vibrant Youth Volunteer, you will support the KCNH Coordinator in the planning, preparation and delivery of school holiday sessions, helping to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants.
Tasks may include
- Welcoming and supporting young people during sessions
- Assisting with activity set-up and pack-down
- Supporting participation in group and creative activities
- Encouraging a safe, inclusive and respectful environment
- Assisting the coordinator with general program delivery

Skills required:
Essential skills & attributes:
We are keen to hear from Volunteers who have:
- Warm, friendly, and non-judgemental approach
- Genuine interest in youth wellbeing and mental health
- Ability to engage respectfully with young people aged 15–19
- Good communication and listening skills
- Cultural awareness and respect for diversity, including disability and lived experience
- Willingness to assist with activity set-up, pack-down, and group support
- Reliable and able to commit during scheduled school holiday sessions
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience working with young people
- Lived experience of disability, caring, or mental health challenges
- Interest in youth work, mental health, or community development
Time required:
2 days per month
Commitment required:
6 months or longer
Others requirement:
- Participate in initial interview
- Working with children and police check (at KCNH’s cost)
