Volunteer Playgroup Facilitator – Support Early Childhood Connections in Hastings

We deliver inclusive, place-based programs including financial wellbeing services, family and domestic violence support, youth and family programs, and community-based initiatives such as playgroups and community houses. Wallaroo Community House in Hastings is a welcoming and inclusive space where people can connect, learn new skills, and feel part of their community.

About the role

We are seeking a friendly and enthusiastic volunteer to facilitate a community playgroup for children aged 4 years and under. In this role, you will help create a safe, engaging and nurturing space for children and their parents/carers to connect, learn and play together.

What the role involves

  • Planning and facilitating age-appropriate play activities (e.g. sensory play, creative play, reading and storytelling)
  • Supporting early childhood development through structured and free play opportunities
  • Welcoming families and encouraging positive parent–child interactions
  • Setting up and packing down playgroup sessions, including maintaining clean and safe play spaces
  • Recording attendance and supporting basic program administration
  • Working collaboratively with the Community House Coordinator to deliver the program

About you

  • Enjoys working with young children and families
  • Has experience facilitating group activities, programs or classes (desirable)
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is reliable and able to commit to a regular volunteering schedule
  • Values inclusion, respect and community connection
