Shopping Support Volunteer

Looking for a rewarding way to give back locally while meeting wonderful people in your community? Join us as a Shopping & Social Support Volunteer in South Melbourne or surrounds and help an older person stay connected, independent, and confident in everyday life.

What you’ll do:

  • Accompany older community members on local shopping trips and social outings

  • Assist with groceries, pushing trolleys, packing bags, or navigating stores

  • Provide friendly companionship and conversation along the way

  • Support people to maintain independence and stay active in their local community

  • Help someone attend a local social activity or community program

Why you’ll love it:

  • Flexible 2-hour sessions available Monday to Friday

  • Volunteer weekly or fortnightly to suit your schedule, this can be at the same time or a different time each week.

  • Use your own vehicle for outings, with kilometre reimbursement provided for travel

  • Access to organisation vehicles may also be available for volunteers

  • Meet amazing local people and build genuine connections

  • Enjoy fun outings while making a real difference close to home

  • Help reduce social isolation and support independence in your community

Sometimes a simple trip to the supermarket or local shops can mean the world to someone. Your support can help make everyday outings easier, more enjoyable, and something to look forward to.
