PTSD Dogs Australia is a registered charity dedicated to improving the lives of Australian Defence Force Veterans and Emergency Services personnel living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. We do this by Rescuing training and placing highly skilled Assistance Dogs. Saving lives of the Rescue dog and the human we gift them to, restoring independence and rebuilding hope. The Opportunity We are seeking a Volunteer Director – Philanthropy & Partnerships to help shape and grow the future sustainability of PTSD Dogs Australia. This is a strategic, values-driven leadership role for someone who believes deeply in Veteran and First Responder wellbeing and wants to use their skills, networks and experience to create lasting impact. Working closely with the CEO, Board, and senior volunteers, you will help strengthen philanthropic income, build meaningful partnerships, and support our long-term mission. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and guide a philanthropy and partnerships strategy appropriate to a growing national charity
- Cultivate and steward relationships with:
- Major donors and philanthropists
- Corporate and community partners
- Trusts and foundations
- Support the preparation of compelling funding proposals and partnership pitches
- Provide strategic advice to the Board and executive on income growth and donor engagement
- Act as an ambassador for PTSD Dogs Australia within relevant networks
- Mentor and support fundraising volunteers as needed
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in philanthropy, fundraising, partnerships, or relationship-led business development (paid or volunteer)
- Strong strategic thinking with a practical, “do-what-right” mindset
- Ability to build trust-based, long-term relationships
- High emotional intelligence and alignment with trauma-informed values
- Governance or Board experience is welcomed but not essential
- Lived experience with defence, emergency services, or PTSD is highly valued
