Volunteer with the Wounded Heroes Equine Program The Wounded Heroes Equine Program (Horses4Heroes) at Wacol is seeking dedicated volunteers to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to support veterans and their families through meaningful, hands on work with our rescue horses and equine assisted wellbeing activities.

About the Program Our equine program provides a calm, supportive environment where veterans can reconnect, rebuild confidence, and find healing through structured groundwork and interaction with horses. Every volunteer plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, care, and wellbeing of both participants and horses. Volunteer Roles Available We’re looking for people who can assist with: • Horse care and handling (no riding involved) • Feeding, grooming, and general paddock maintenance • Groundwork support during veteran sessions • Stable and property upkeep • Event days and community engagement • Administrative or program support Experience with horses, especially ex racehorses or thoroughbreds is highly valued, but not essential for all roles. Who We’re Looking For You’ll be a great fit if you: • Have a calm, patient, and reliable nature • Enjoy working outdoors and in a team environment • Have a genuine interest in supporting veterans and equine wellbeing • (Preferred) Have experience with groundwork, herding, or handling horses A driver’s licence and your own vehicle are helpful due to the location.
