Community Support Volunteer – Help People Access Financial Support in Geelong

About us
At Good Shepherd, we partner with communities to support people experiencing disadvantage to thrive. We deliver inclusive, place-based programs, including financial wellbeing services, No Interest Loans (NILS), financial counselling, family and domestic violence support, and community-based initiatives. Our Community Hubs and Good Money Stores are welcoming, accessible spaces where people can connect with services and get the support they need.
About the role
We are seeking friendly and reliable volunteers to join our Geelong Good Money hub. In this role, you will be a welcoming presence, supporting community members to navigate services, respond to enquiries, and access financial and community support. You will also assist with administrative tasks to help keep the hub running smoothly.
What the role involves
- Welcoming people to the hub in person, by phone or email
- Supporting community members to understand and access available services
- Assisting people to gather information or documentation to access support
- Providing referrals to internal and external services, as directed
- Supporting the team with general administration (emails, bookings, data entry)
About you
- Friendly, welcoming and enjoys interacting with people
- Organised and comfortable with basic administrative tasks
- Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Is reliable and able to commit to a regular volunteering schedule
- Values inclusion, respect and community connection
Multilingual volunteers (especially Dari and Arabic) and people with interest in community services are encouraged to apply.
