Volunteer Translators (Bridging Histories, Caroline Springs VIC 3023)

Help bridge cultures through language and storytelling. Bridging Histories is seeking passionate volunteer translators to help make Australia’s veteran history accessible to refugee and culturally diverse communities across Victoria. As a Project Translator, you will play a vital role in breaking language barriers by translating educational resources, workshop materials, community information, and storytelling content into community languages. Your contribution will help ensure that veterans’ stories resonate across cultures, generations, and communities. What you’ll do:

  • • Translate project materials, educational handouts, workshop resources, and community information into relevant community languages.
  • • Support culturally appropriate communication and terminology adaptation.
  • • Assist with reviewing translated content for clarity, accessibility, and cultural sensitivity.
  • • Collaborate with facilitators and community leaders to ensure messages are inclusive and meaningful.
  • • Contribute to building a lasting multilingual resource library for future community use.

Who we’re looking for:

  • • Bilingual or multilingual volunteers fluent in English and one or more community languages.
  • • Individuals with strong communication skills.
  • • People passionate about multicultural engagement, history, social cohesion, or community service.
  • • Refugees, migrants, students, community leaders, and language professionals are encouraged to apply.
