Op Shop Sorter - Help Us Find the Good Stuff

The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of The Fair Trade and Gift Shop.

About the role

You will assess, sort and prepare donated items including:

• Clothing,
• Household goods,
• Books and
• Bric-a-Brac.

Your attention to detail will help ensure that only suitable, high-quality items make it onto the shop floor.

Key responsibilities

• Sort donations into the appropriate categories and departments
• Check items for damage, stains, wear and functionality
• Decide whether items are suitable for sale
• Price merchandise according to its condition, quality and value
• Attach price tags and other required labels
• Organise stock neatly on shelves, racks and in storage areas
• Keep the sorting area clean, safe and tidy
• Dispose of unsuitable items responsibly
• Identify valuable, fragile or special items and handle them with care
• Communicate with team members about donation quality, stock levels and any concerns
• Work collaboratively to support the smooth operation of the store.
