Community Outreach Teacher Volunteer
The Community Outreach Teacher Volunteer will be responsible for the following activities:
- Delivering incursions education programs to schools, in accordance with lesson plans created by the Community Outreach Officer.
- Assist with the delivery and supervision of students attending excursions at the RSPCA Burwood East and Peninsula sites.
- Assist with the delivery and supervision of students attending excursions at Community Facilities and Libraries.
- Maintain program delivery areas in a neat and tidy manner, in line with staff instructions and WHS standards; including set and pack down of activities / equipment, maintaining hygiene standards in the kitchen / food preparation areas
- Other activities as agreed, to support Community Outreach education operations in line with RSPCA Victoria’s Child Safe policy.
To be successful in this role, the volunteer will possess the following necessary skills and attributes:
Essential:
- Current or previous Registered Teacher
- Current Working with Children Check or equivalent
- Strong communication skills – ability to effectively interact and engage with children in the program environment
- Ability to take verbal and written directions and follow set policy and processes of RSPCA Victoria
- Ability to work independently at primary and secondary schools
- Shows initiative
- Good attention to detail
Desirable:
- Background / experience in working with children under 12 years of age
- RSPCA Volunteer experience
