Volunteer Driver - Medical Transport

Key Duties: As a Volunteer Medical Transport Driver, you will:

  • Pick up client/s at the time arranged with office staff or the volunteer coordinator.
  • Safely transport clients to and from medical appointments (e.g., GP visits, hospital appointments, allied health services).
  • Provide door-to-door assistance where required, ensuring clients feel comfortable and supported during their journey.
  • Offer a friendly, respectful presence and help reduce anxiety often associated with medical visits.
  • Adhere to scheduled timings and communicate any delays or issues with staff promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and roadworthy vehicle at all times.
  • Ensure client confidentiality and comply with safety, privacy, and organisational policies.

Skills and Experience Needed: You don’t need formal qualifications – just a caring attitude and a commitment to helping others.

We’re looking for volunteers who:

  • Hold a valid driver’s licence and have access to a registered, insured, and reliable vehicle.
  • Are punctual, dependable, and able to follow schedules and instructions.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and a calm, patient, and friendly manner.
  • Are comfortable assisting elderly or vulnerable individuals with entering/exiting vehicles (non-clinical support only).
  • Can work independently while maintaining communication with staff.
  • Are willing to undergo a National Police Check (organised and paid for by us) and complete basic induction training.
  • Previous experience in community services, driving, or customer service is beneficial but not essential.
