Art Program Volunteer

What you’ll do

  • Support and encourage a group of female artists in group sessions
  • Help set up and pack away materials
  • Support participants to develop artistic, cultural and enterprise skills
  • Coordinate the program to develop into an industry for women in custody

What we’re looking for

  • Warm, patient, and positive people who enjoy working with people
  • Comfortable leading or assisting a group
  • Reliable and respectful of confidentiality
  • Basic IT skills – internet, digital photography etc
  • No professional art experience needed — enthusiasm is what matters

Days/Times

  • Flexible — ideally 1–2 days per week
  • Weekdays only

Requirements:

  • General Employment Probity (initiated by the Volunteer Unit if successful)
  • Non-judgemental
  • Ability and willingness to work with those incarcerated
  • Ability to work with diverse groups
  • All volunteers will be required to attend an Orientation Training as part of the recruitment processes.

As volunteers need to work with prison regimes and timeframes, days/times will be negotiated during the recruitment process
