Fortnightly Friendship: Make a Difference One Visit at a Time - Leopold

The Role: As a Volunteer Visitor, you’ll be paired with an older person to provide regular social support through friendly, in‑home visits. Each visit is shaped by shared interests and may include chatting, listening to music, playing games, or simply enjoying each other’s company. It’s a relaxed, rewarding way to build a genuine connection and brighten someone’s week—while enriching your own

Our Client: Our client is a woman in her early 70s living independently in her Leopold home. She lives alone with her two friendly but shy cats and is well supported by her daughter, who lives some distance away. She values companionship and would love someone who enjoys conversation and shared interests.

A former graphic designer, she continues to volunteer with the Genealogical Society of Victoria and has over 30 years’ experience in genealogy. She spends several hours a day uploading data, designs for Ancestor magazine, and has recently returned to painting. She’s looking for a chatty volunteer with similar interests for fortnightly afternoon visits.

About You:

• Lives in and around Leopold or is happy to travel.
• Possess clear communication skills.
• Compassionate, patient and an excellent listener.
• Passionate about giving back to your community.
• Conducts yourself with open-mindedness and respect, ensuring the privacy, confidentiality, and dignity of our clients is always maintained.
• Comfortable using technology to provide feedback and connect with the Volunteer Program.
• Availability for a flexible six-month commitment.
