At genU Community Nursery, we are passionate about growing and supplying high-quality Australian native and Indigenous plants that thrive in local landscapes. This wholesale nursery offers a diverse range of Indigenous plants from the local area.

genU empowers people with disability to build skills, gain independence, and work towards meaningful employment opportunities. The nursery provides supported employment for people with a disability, so they can experience meaningful employment and build their skills in a supported space.

The role:

The purpose of the Volunteer Nursery Assistant is to encourage, and mentor supported workers. You will help these individuals to learn new skills that will give them the opportunity to access mainstream employment and improve general work prospects. Whilst being a mentor in the space, you will get your hands dirty in the garden, from maintaining the quality and health of the plants, to repotting, transporting and organizing the plants. All whilst having a little fun and laughter along the way!

This is an outdoor role for individuals working in a group environment who have a passion to learn, or have prior experience, for plants or horticulture. Duties include potting plants, weeding, fulfilling orders, pot washing and stock maintenance (weeding, staking and stock rotation).

For you:

  • Meet new people and make new friends!
  • Join a community of volunteers making a difference in your local area.
  • Receive ongoing support and training throughout your journey, including a fully funded NDIS worker screening check.
  • Be welcomed into genU’s friendly and inclusive workplace.

About you:

  • If you have experience in horticulture and are passionate about passing on a skill you’re proud of, that’s a bonus! Alternatively, if you are wanting to get involved and learn something new, that’s okay too!
  • Embodies the welcoming and positive volunteer spirit
  • Passionate about giving back to your community

Time Commitment:

Volunteering shifts are available between the hours of 9:00am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday. At genU, we’re all about flexibility. Let’s chat and find the hours which suit you best!
