About Vic Park Community Centre

Vic Park Community Centre (VPCC) is a vibrant, community-led organisation based in East Victoria Park. We bring people together through programs, workshops, events and shared spaces that foster connection, wellbeing and lifelong learning.

Our outdoor spaces are an important part of this vision, creating opportunities for people to play, enjoy nature, share knowledge and build meaningful relationships.

The Opportunity

As a Green Thumbs Garden Volunteer, you'll help maintain and enhance our gardens, ensuring they remain attractive, tidy and welcoming for community members, visitors and program participants.

This role is ideal for people who enjoy gardening, sustainability, environmental stewardship, or simply spending time outdoors.

Key Duties

Depending on the season and garden needs, volunteers may assist with:

• Cutting grass and pruning
• Planting, watering and caring for garden beds
• Weeding, mulching and general garden maintenance
• Caring for plants, herbs and vegetables
• Assisting with garden improvement projects
• Maintaining pathways and shared outdoor spaces
• Helping create a welcoming environment for visitors and participants
• Sharing gardening knowledge and learning from others

Skills and Experience

No formal gardening qualifications are required. We're looking for volunteers who are:

• Interested in gardening, sustainability or the environment
• Comfortable working outdoors
• Reliable and willing to contribute regularly
• Friendly and community-minded
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Willing to learn and share knowledge with others

Previous gardening, landscaping or horticulture experience is welcome but not essential.
