Vic Park Community Centre (VPCC) is seeking an experienced and community-minded Board Chair to provide leadership, governance and strategic direction to our organisation. This is a meaningful opportunity to help guide a respected community organisation that creates connection, belonging and positive social impact across East Victoria Park and beyond. As Board Chair, you will work collaboratively with fellow Board members and the Centre Manager to ensure VPCC remains sustainable, accountable and community-focused.

The Opportunity

The Board Chair plays a key leadership role in supporting effective governance, strategic planning and organisational sustainability. You will lead the Board in fulfilling its responsibilities, foster a positive relationship with the Centre Manager and help ensure the organisation operates in accordance with its values, constitution and regulatory obligations.

Key Responsibilities

• Chair Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting
• Foster a collaborative and effective Board culture
• Provide strategic leadership and oversight
• Support and guide the Centre Manager
• Ensure sound governance and regulatory compliance
• Oversee organisational performance, risk and financial sustainability
• Support Board recruitment and succession planning
• Represent VPCC with key stakeholders when appropriate
• Ensure decisions align with VPCC's vision, mission and values

Skills and Experience

We welcome expressions of interest from people with:

• Previous Board Chair, Director or governance experience
• Strong leadership and relationship-building skills
• Strategic thinking and sound decision-making abilities
• Understanding of governance principles and Board responsibilities
• Experience in the not-for-profit, community, government or business sectors
• Commitment to ethical leadership, accountability and transparency
• Understanding of financial oversight and organisational sustainability

Experience in community services, governance, law, finance, fundraising, partnerships or organisational development would be highly regarded.

Time Commitment

• Quarterly Board meetings
• Sub-committee participation between meetings
• Annual General Meeting attendance
• Occasional strategic planning sessions and community events
