Join Our Meals on Wheels Team – Make a Real Difference in Your Community!
Every week, a team of caring people brings nutritious meals and a smile to the doorsteps of people who need them most. Got a car, a licence, or simply a couple of free hours in your day? Love a chat and helping others? Then we’d love to have you on board! As part of our delivery team, you’ll be on the “front line,” delivering not just meals, but care, companionship, and connection to our customers. Whether you drive or ride along as a passenger, your contribution makes a huge difference.
Two Ways to Volunteer: Driver
- Meet your delivery partner at the branch or hospital site, help load the hot boxes, and deliver meals to our customers’ homes.
- Return to the branch after your round and continue your day, knowing you’ve made a difference.
- Drivers use their own vehicle, but reimbursement is available. Routes are typically under 15km per day.
- Requirements: current driver’s licence and comprehensive insurance (preferred).
Deliverer (Passenger)
- Ride along with a driver, help load the meals, and deliver to our customers’ homes.
- Enjoy friendly conversation and the satisfaction of helping someone’s day go a little smoother.
- No vehicle or licence needed—just your time, energy, and willingness to help.
Shifts & Flexibility
- Monday to Friday, 11:00am – 1:30pm
- Choose the days and frequency that suit you
What We’re Looking For
- Friendly, caring people who enjoy connecting with others
- Team players who can work cooperatively in a supportive environment
- Volunteers willing to complete a short application, a free police check (or provide a current one from the last 2 years), and brief training
Why Volunteer with Meals on Wheels SA?
- Make a tangible difference in your local community every week
- Meet wonderful people, both customers and fellow volunteers
- Enjoy a flexible, rewarding role that fits around your schedule
- Training provided—no prior experience needed
