The Role: In this rewarding volunteer role, you’ll be paired with an older person in your community to provide regular social visits in their home. Each visit is shaped by your shared interests—whether that’s enjoying conversation, watching TV, playing games, or simply spending time together over a cuppa. It’s a wonderful opportunity to build a meaningful connection while reducing social isolation and making a lasting impact in someone’s life.

Our Client: You’ll be visiting a warm and gentle woman in her early 80s who lives in Herne Hill and would truly value some friendly company. She enjoys the simple pleasures in life—sitting down with a cup of tea, chatting about everyday happenings, and watching her favourite shows like Bold & Beautiful. A keen sports fan, she loves following the Geelong Cats, as well as cricket, and also has an interest in gardening. She would benefit from a mature female volunteer who can comfortably take the lead in conversations and has a clear, easy-to-understand speaking voice. Building rapport may take a little time, but your patience and warmth will help her come out of her shell. You may also be greeted by her shy cat, who quietly shares her home. Visits on Tuesday afternoons would be ideal and something she looks forward to each week.

Put the kettle on, bring your conversation skills, and share some smiles—apply today and make Tuesdays the highlight of someone’s week!
