The role: As a volunteer, you will support participants in genU’s Participate Disability Day Program, where they enjoy spending time outdoors working in the garden — cultivating plants, growing vegetables, and connecting with others. You’ll assist staff to ensure all participants feel welcome, supported and actively engaged. This is a rewarding, hands‑on role that combines gardening with social connection in a positive and inclusive environment.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting participants during gardening activities
  • Assisting educators and staff to run engaging programs
  • Helping create a welcoming, inclusive and supportive atmosphere
  • Encouraging social interaction and participation
  • Providing individual or small‑group support where needed

About you:

  • If you have experience in horticulture and are passionate about passing on a skill you’re proud of, that’s a bonus! Alternatively, if you are wanting to get involved and learn something new, that’s okay too!

Program Hours: Programs run across four terms per year, 10:00am – 3:00pm, Tuesday to Thursday and Volunteering shifts are available between those hours At genU, we’re all about flexibility. Let’s chat and find the hours which suit you best!
