About the opportunity
Primary Purpose of the Position
Support the Nowa Nowa community in East Gippsland to strengthen a community-owned Investment Prospectus into a clear, investable and partnership-ready platform. Working closely with local stakeholders, you will help refine investment narratives, clarify governance and stewardship, and shape a practical framework for engaging aligned partners, funders and investors. This role focuses on ensuring future development is deliberate, inclusive and resilient, aligned with community priorities such as nature-based tourism, health and ageing, and modest-scale infrastructure. You will also support defining success measures and next steps to ensure the prospectus remains a living document that evolves with the community. Through this work, you will contribute to strengthening local economic resilience, community governance and long-term wellbeing in a disaster-affected region.
The tasks and deliverables of this Assignment are:
• Research and identify suitable grant funding opportunities (government and philanthropic)
• Prioritise grants aligned to organisational goals and community need
• Develop high-quality, funder compliant grant applications, including:
o Program descriptions
o Needs statements
o Outcomes and evaluation measures
o Risk and governance sections (as required)
• Work collaboratively with NH staff to gather information and draft narrative content
• Develop reusable core grant content and organisational boilerplate text
• Provide a basic grants pipeline or calendar outlining future opportunities
Selection Criteria:
Essential:
• Demonstrated experience in grant writing for not for profit or community organisations
• Strong written communication and analytical skills
• Proven ability to translate community need into compelling funding narratives
• Ability to work collaboratively with small, capacity constrained organisations
Desirable: • Experience in community development, health, ageing or social services
• Familiarity with regional or rural community contexts
