Meal Assistance Volunteers
Advertised by VolunteeringACTMeal Assistance Volunteers assist our hospital patients during mealtimes receive adequate nutrition and hydration. Volunteers provide practical assistance to patients by opening containers, cutting up food, hand-over-hand assistance to eat, or feeding patients when needed. Volunteers also provide companionship as they move around the ward.
This is a rewarding role that makes a meaningful difference to patients. It will suit someone who:
- enjoys interacting with people
- can quickly build rapport
- has a caring supportive approach
- is comfortable in a hospital environment.
Each shift (breakfast, lunch or dinner) is approximately 1.5 hours, once per week, weekdays.
Training is provided, so that volunteers feel comfortable and confident to assist and feed patients. All volunteers receive ongoing support from the Volunteer Services Manager.
