Committee members for Queensland Friends of the ABC
Advertised by Volunteering QueenslandABC Friends is a statewide, not‑for‑profit, non‑partisan volunteer organisation that has spent 50 years defending and supporting Australia’s independent public broadcaster, the ABC. We believe a strong, well‑funded ABC is essential for a healthy democracy — and we’re looking for passionate people to help us continue that mission.
What We Do
- Advocate for proper funding and independence of the ABC
- Promote truth in reporting, quality current affairs, children’s programming and regional coverage
- Encourage political candidates to publicly support the ABC
- Speak to community groups and host events
- Build a welcoming community of like‑minded supporters
Who We’re Looking For We welcome anyone who cares about the ABC and its role in Australian life. We are especially keen to hear from people with:
- Accounting or treasurer experience
- Secretarial or administrative skills
- Computer or organisational abilities
Retired professionals are warmly encouraged, but enthusiasm for public broadcasting is the only real requirement, as well as being available for monthly meetings.
