The committee oversees the running of the Recherche Community Village leased homes for people aged over 55. The organisation provides affordable rental accommodation for senior citizens on low incomes and works to support residents’ wellbeing and community connections.
These are low-stress volunteer roles suited to people who enjoy working as part of a team and giving back to the community.
We urgently need to fill the following positions, with only one volunteer required for each role.
What’s Involved:
- Attend one committee meeting each month (Mondays (flexible), approximately 1 hour & flexible start time)
- Meetings held in the Alchera Community Room on Eyre Street
- Friendly and supportive environment
Available Volunteer Roles:
Chairperson
- Preside at all meetings of the Association
- Convene all meetings of the Association in conjunction with the secretary
- Prepare the ‘annual report’ for the Annual General Meeting
- Be the public spokesperson of the Association
Vice Chair (Urgently needed before the end of June):
- Assist the Chairperson
- Step in and chair meetings if the Chairperson is unavailable
- Attend monthly meetings
Treasurer (Needed by November):
- Keep proper records showing the financial affairs of the Association.
- Pay all accounts signed by two of the following: Chair, Secretary, or Treasurer of the Association.
- Prepare a statement of income and expenditure and a balance sheet for all General Meetings and the Annual General Meeting.
- Ensure the safe custody of the Association’s financial records, financial statements, and financial reports.
- Provide any assistance required by an auditor or reviewer conducting an audit or review of the financial statements or financial report, every two years.
Secretary
- Prepare agenda and relevant notices for meetings
- Keep accurate minutes of all meetings
- Perform other duties as stated in the Constitution of the Association
Community Representative:
- Provide an independent community perspective
- Help advocate for and support residents’ interests and wellbeing
- Attend meetings and contribute ideas and feedback
