About the Volunteer Position – Wellbeing, Welfare & Recognition Team Leader
Team: People & Culture Team Department: Management Reporting to: Acting People & Culture Manager Location: Adelaide-based only (Hybrid) *Commitment: On average, 8-10 hours per week. *This role offers flexible working arrangements, allowing tasks to be completed at times that suit your schedule across the week. Please note that attendance at team meetings and availability to lead/support the team when required are essential expectations of the role.
Role Summary: CLCN is seeking a Volunteer Wellbeing, Welfare & Recognition Team Leader to support the People & Culture Team. In this role, you will work closely with the Acting People & Culture Manager and collaborate with the Recruitment Team and Training & Development Team to strengthen the volunteer experience, wellbeing initiatives, and recognition programs across the organisation.
The position involves contributing to wellbeing, welfare, and recognition strategies and initiatives, while supporting recruitment and onboarding experience, learning and development alignment, and broader people and culture priorities. You will help deliver initiatives that support employability, social cohesion, and opportunities for multicultural and diverse communities across South Australia.
This opportunity allows volunteers to gain practical leadership experience, develop professional skills in people and culture functions, and contribute to meaningful work that supports inclusive and impact-driven community outcomes.
Selected Key Responsibilities As the Wellbeing, Welfare & Recognition Team Leader, you will:
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of wellbeing, welfare, WHS-aligned safety, and recognition initiatives across CLCN.
- Work with the Recruitment Team to support a smooth transition for new starters, ensuring they feel welcomed and receive key information, and celebrate volunteer milestones.
- Work with the Training & Development Team to ensure wellbeing and WHS awareness are included in training and development activities.
- Develop and implement structured recognition frameworks that strengthen volunteer engagement, motivation, and retention.
- Oversee and promote volunteer wellbeing, including psychosocial safety, stress management, and physical wellbeing considerations. and provide accessible self-help resources
- Work closely with team leaders to plan and deliver team-building initiatives that strengthen collaboration and build a positive, values-driven CLCN internal culture, including celebrating wellness days and key wellbeing events.
- Coordinate team activities, communications, and engagement initiatives to support a cohesive and high-performing volunteer environment.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience leading or supervising a team in a volunteer, academic, or professional HR or people-focused environment.
- Experience in HR, people & culture, or related functions such as recruitment, onboarding, wellbeing, or employee engagement.
- Strong understanding of wellbeing, engagement, or people-focused initiatives.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams, including recruitment and training functions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate projects, and meet deadlines.
- Understanding of confidentiality and handling sensitive information responsibly.
- Ability to work independently and within a hybrid/remote team environment.
- Experience using remote collaboration tools and coordinating virtual teams.
