The Western Districts “Wests Bulldogs” Baseball Club, based at Atthows Park in Darra, is currently seeking a friendly and reliable volunteer to help manage our weekend canteen during the baseball season.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to become involved in a welcoming community environment, meet new people, and make a meaningful contribution to local junior sport.
About the Role Our canteen operates on most Saturdays and Sundays during the baseball season, which runs across school Terms 4 and 1 (approximately October to March, excluding the Christmas break).
Typical hours are: • From approximately 7:00/7:30am until early afternoon • Most activity occurs during junior baseball games and family events
The role involves: • Managing stock supplies and placing basic food and beverage orders • Operating a simple payment and EFTPOS system • Preparing basic food and drinks (burgers, hot dogs, chips, coffee, etc.) • Coordinating volunteer helpers during busy periods • Assisting with daily cash reconciliation and basic record keeping • Helping create a friendly and welcoming environment for families and players • Supporting basic canteen organisation and hygiene requirements
This is a very social and people-oriented role, with lots of interaction with local families and children. There is generally plenty of downtime throughout the day, making it a relaxed and enjoyable volunteering opportunity.
Support Provided • Full training and support provided • Parent volunteers from club teams assist during busy periods • No previous experience required • The club can assist suitable applicants with Food Safety or Working With Children requirements if needed
Time Commitment • Approximately 4–6 hours per week during the season • Includes some light mid-week ordering/preparation as required

Requirements • Friendly and reliable nature • Comfortable interacting with families and children • Basic organisational skills • Some food preparation or hospitality experience would be useful, but not essential • Willingness to obtain a Food Safety Certificate and Working With Children Check (WWCC)
