About the opportunity
Primary Purpose of the Position
This assignment will provide project management support for a community-led, multi-year initiative currently in Phase 1 (site acquisition and due diligence). Working with a highly committed volunteer committee, the role will establish structure, coordinate activities, and track progress to maintain momentum and achieve key milestones. The assignment will enable informed decision-making regarding site acquisition and position the organisation for subsequent development phases over a 3–6 year timeframe. The volunteer will take a proactive, collaborative approach to coordinating stakeholders, supporting volunteers, and ensuring clear plans, timelines, and deliverables are in place to guide the project through its initial phase. This assignment forms part of the Resilient Regions program, a place-based, community-driven initiative strengthening disaster preparedness, economic resilience, and social cohesion across communities in East and Central Gippsland. Through this program, ABV volunteers work alongside local partners to build capacity, strengthen systems and structures, and support communities to better prepare for, respond to, and recover from climate-related disasters.
The deliverables of this Assignment are:
• Progress tracking and reporting framework
• Risk and issue register
• Meeting schedules and coordination processes
• Final summary report outlining progress, key outcomes, and next steps
Selection Criteria:
• Demonstrated experience in project management, particularly in complex or multi-phase projects
• Strong organisational and planning skills
• Experience working with or supporting volunteer-based organisations (highly desirable)
• Ability to engage, motivate, and coordinate diverse stakeholders
• Familiarity with project management tools and systems
• Strong communication and facilitation skills
• Experience working with rural regional communities (desirable)

- 5 years professional experience in the relevant field
