The Role: In this volunteer role, you’ll be paired with an ageing senior to provide regular social support visits in her home and, over time, help her gently reconnect with the local community. Activities are guided by shared interests and may include conversation, listening to music, playing board games or simply enjoying a relaxed chat. Visits are approximately 2 hours and focused on building trust, confidence and companionship.

Our Client: You’ll be supporting a friendly woman in her 70s who lives independently in Leopold with her beloved groodle, who is very much part of her world. She enjoys meaningful conversation, sharing stories and spending time with someone who is happy to sit, chat and enjoy the simple things. If you’re a dog‑lover who values connection over busyness, this will feel like a natural and rewarding match. She experiences anxiety and depression, so she’s looking for a calm, empathetic female volunteer who will meet her where she’s at and move at her pace. Visits will begin in the comfort of her home, helping her build trust and confidence. Over time — only when she’s ready — the hope is to take gentle steps into the community, such as a short walk to a local café or nearby shops. Your companionship will be an important stepping stone in helping her feel safe, supported and more connected again.
