Partners in Aid is seeking passionate and skilled volunteers to join our Project Advisory Group and support our growing international development work across South and Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
This is an exciting opportunity for people with an interest in international development, community development, governance, public health, sustainability, safeguarding, monitoring and evaluation, NGO compliance, or DFAT-accredited aid programs to contribute to meaningful grassroots projects that create long-term community impact.
**About Partners in Aid **
Partners in Aid is an Australian not-for-profit organisation that partners with local NGOs in developing countries to support sustainable projects in education, health, livelihood development, environmental sustainability and WASH initiatives.
Our approach focuses on long-term partnerships, community participation and locally-led development. We are currently strengthening our governance and project oversight structures as we continue progressing toward DFAT accreditation.
**About the Role **
Project Advisory Group members work alongside the Board and project coordinators to provide advice, oversight and practical support across our international development projects.
This volunteer role is ideal for someone wanting hands-on involvement in the international development sector while contributing professional expertise to a small, values-driven organisation.
Advisory Group members may have opportunities over time to:
- contribute to project coordination and monitoring activities
- support grant and DFAT accreditation work
- undertake project reviews and due diligence activities
- assist with safeguarding and compliance processes
- travel to project locations where appropriate
- progress into Project Coordinator or Board Director roles in the future
- Participate in other areas of the organisation such as marketing, fundraising, finance etc
**Key Responsibilities **
Depending on your skills and interests, responsibilities may include:
- reviewing project proposals, reports, financial acquittals and evaluations
- helping ensure projects remain aligned with DFAT and ACFID requirements
- helping to promote safeguarding of children and vulnerable community members, gender equity and risk management in project design and implementation
- assisting with monitoring, evaluation and project learning
- providing strategic advice on international development best practice
- supporting project policy development and NGO governance improvements
- participating in online meetings and occasional working groups
- contributing to the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of PIA projects
We Are Particularly Interested in People with Experience in any of the following:
- international development
- public health
- WASH or environmental sustainability
- safeguarding and child protection
- NGO governance or compliance
- monitoring and evaluation
- grant writing or DFAT accreditation
- finance, risk or auditing
- communications or fundraising
- community development
**Commitment **
- Approximately 6 hours per month
- Mostly remote/online participation
- Attendance at periodic online meetings

**Requirements **
Successful applicants will be required to:
- share PIA’s values and commitment to ethical development practice
- complete a Working With Children Check and police check
- provide two referees prepared to be interviewed (preferably people who have observed you interacting with children and with people from different cultures)
- provide a resume outlining your work experience and any overseas project experience you might have had
- comply with PIA safeguarding and code of conduct requirements
- demonstrate professionalism, cultural sensitivity and integrity
