Dovetree - Pet Companion Volunteer in Residential Aged Care, Sinnamon Park

A gentle nuzzle, a wagging tail, or a quiet moment of connection can make the biggest difference at Dovetree Residential Aged Care Community. If you and your calm, friendly pet are ready to share comfort, companionship, and smiles, we would love to hear from you.

Pet Companion Volunteers can help residents by:

• Providing meaningful social interaction during visits.
• Encouraging gentle, positive engagement with animals tailored to each resident’s comfort level.
• Supporting emotional wellbeing through calming and enjoyable pet interactions.
• Creating safe, relaxed, and positive experiences for residents.
• Sparking memories, conversation, and connection through animal companionship.
• Ensuring residents feel comfortable, respected, and at ease during interactions.
• Communicating resident feedback to staff to assist in improving both the activity and resident enjoyment.

This role is suitable for people who have well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm and empathetic manner when engaging with residents. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make a difference in the lives of our senior residents while making friends, having fun and learning new skills.

Volunteering hours available for this role are Monday to Friday between 2:00pm - 3:30pm.

All our volunteers follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and provide proof they have received a minimum of one primary COVID-19 vaccination before they are registered in their role.

Volunteers will also be required to have a current NDIS Workers Screening Clearance prior to commencement. This can be applied for through Wesley Mission Queensland at no cost to you.
