Position description:
West Welcome Wagon is seeking an experienced Volunteer Curriculum Developer to co-design practical employment pathway training materials for people seeking asylum and refugees.
In this role, the volunteer will:
- Review the training structure and participant needs
- Develop clear module outlines, session content and facilitator notes
- Create practical learning activities using plain and accessible language
- Apply culturally responsive and trauma-informed principles
- Participate in a project meeting, review process and handover session
- Training topics may include communication, teamwork, interview skills, job search strategies, resumes, cover letters and Australian workplace culture.
Skills required:
- Experience in learning and development, curriculum design, workforce training, adult education, community education, human resources or a related field
- Strong written communication skills
- Ability to create clear and accessible learning materials
- Ability to work respectfully with people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
- Knowledge of the Australian employment landscape, trauma-informed practice or culturally responsive design would be highly regarded.
Location:
Remote or hybrid with occasional meetings at West Welcome Wagon, Unit 3, 42-46 Vella Drive, Sunshine West VIC 3020.
Time required:
Estimated 15 to 20 hours total.
Commitment required:
Short-term project-based commitment. Timelines can be discussed with the volunteer.
Other requirements:
- Current Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain one before starting
- Attend a brief volunteer induction session
- Sign West Welcome Wagon Volunteer Agreement
