Aged Care Social Visitor - Lisarow location

Volunteering Central Coast

Sue* (name changed for privacy) is in her 80s with an interest in current affairs and who likes keeping up with the news of the day. She'd appreciate a regular social visit from an open-minded visitor who shares similar progressive values. Lively, friendly and respectful discussion will help keep Sue's mind stimulated and help her to feel connected to the world.

Living in an aged care home in Lisarow, Sue has limited opportunities for intellectual conversation with fellow residents, so regular visits from a community volunteer would help her feel less isolated and lonely, and give her a meaningful opportunity to engage with a like-minded person to add some interest to her day.

Visits are purely for social reasons (no running errands, transporting to medical appointments, or personal care duties) and occur on a regular ongoing basis (eg an hour a week or fortnight). Time can be spent doing activities you both enjoy - conversation, sharing stories of your lives, going for a walk in the garden, enjoying a hobby together etc.

It's all about connection, companionship and community.

Volunteer Visitors require patience and reliability...and above all, a heart for older people. You will be supported in your role by a Volunteer Coordinator.

Volunteers undergo a police check (at no charge to you) and complete a short online training program before commencing their volunteering role.

Please register your interest today and a Coordinator will be in touch with more information about the next steps.
